Leveraging Social Media to Connect, Reengage Clients and Prospects

Let’s talk. As a subscriber to AIP Marketing Alliance’s LinkedIn newsletter, you understand the value that social media can provide as a free outlet to communicate with your followers. However, how many of your clients and prospects actually check platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, Threads, and every other new network coming out?

The hardest part of social media is being social and C-O-M-M-U-N-I-C-A-T-I-N-G. Truthfully. Allocating time to a platform can involve many hours depending on how many platforms you decide to engage with consumers on. Every post takes time. Sure, you can use multiple “posting” platforms to send your messages across all of your chosen social media, but are you really reaching your book of business or viable prospects?

At AIPMA, we don’t want you to waste your digital space. The worst thing you can do – sometimes not even knowing it – is share links to social media platforms on your website and then not have any updates for weeks, months, or even YEARS!

Sometimes, insurance agents and financial professionals outsource their websites, social media, or both (most freelance companies offer these bundle packages) to a servicing agency, but then cancel the service after a few months or a year. When that happens, the digital silence can cause you to lose followers, lose touch with your valued clients, and also make a negative impression on potential sales prospects.

To help our valued independent life insurance and annuity downline wholesalers and agents, AIP Marketing Alliance provides a monthly social media calendar with compliant posts tailored toward recruiting agents and attracting consumers. We even provide the graphics, links, and text where posting becomes as easy as copy/pasting the content.

These posts become very valuable to support monthly campaigns including Annuity Awareness Month (June), Life Insurance Awareness Month (September), and Long-Term Care Awareness Month (November). AIPMA also supports Insure Your Love Month (February) and Disability Insurance Awareness Month (May).

AIPMA’s marketing and business development team is often asked for guidance on social media posts. With that in mind, our team can provide new social media flyers, which focus on guidelines for Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

These guides were created to help increase an agent’s online presence, help engage with clients/prospects/colleagues, and stand out in a crowded financial marketplace. They also give some tips to starting business and personal pages as well as remaining compliant with your posts and content.

These agent-approved guides are available by emailing [email protected] as they are not approved for consumers or public distribution. You are welcome to request these flyers and send to your downline agents. AIPMA’s marketing team also can customize with your logo and contact information as requested.

The biggest challenge other than setting up your social media platforms could involve content. Here’s a hint. Leverage the insurance carriers that you are contracted with as most of them offer consumer-approved content to share on your networks.

AIP Marketing Alliance’s team can direct you to carriers’ blog pages and microsites to download approved graphics, text, and videos. Our marketing team also recommends that you follow your contracted carriers and other industry-focused groups (Alliance for Lifetime Income, NAILBA, etc.). Their posts can become informational content for your followers!

Our marketing team also is a big fan of the Canva platform. For a very competitive price, you basically gain access to a graphics platform designed to make social media, videos, presentations, websites, and business graphics easily. It’s very user friendly and AIPMA’s marketing efforts have taken advantage of everything Canva has to offer.

We hope these social media tips and guides will help you use the Summer months as a way to reconnect with clients and generate more leads/prospects. Annuities are still strong with competitive rates and a life insurance policy review may help your clients assess if a newer policy could protect their loved ones/legacy better. By taking the time to set up these platforms now, you could set yourself up for success in the second half of 2025.

AIP Marketing Alliance’s marketing team is here if you need some ideas, suggestions, or content. Contact [email protected] if you would like some resources to get you started on social media or the guides mentioned above. In the meantime, you are welcome to follow AIPMA on other platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
