AIP Marketing Alliance is kicking off the summer months with a hot topic that may affect your life insurance sales for the rest of 2021 as we partner with North American for a half-hour session Tuesday, June 1st at 2 p.m. EST on the impact of Section 7702 on life insurance products.

Section 7702 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Tax Code defines what the federal government considers to be a legitimate life insurance contract and is used to determine how the proceeds are taxed. 7702 states what types of cash value life insurance policies are eligible to receive tax-advantaged treatment. If a life insurance policy does not meet the criteria listed in Section 7702, then both the growth of the cash value inside the policy and the death benefit will be counted as taxable income to the beneficiary.

This half-hour session will start out with Tom Martin, North American Life’s Senior Life Product & Competition Analyst, discussing how 7702 is impacting life carriers and their specific product lines. He also will answer questions from participants during his portion of the program.

For the second half of the event, North American’s Steve Zimmerman and Troy Haman will partner up to talk about how recent changes to the Builder Plus 3 life insurance product present a competitive solution to discuss with your clients. They also will spend some time reviewing how to position Builder Plus 3 in a sales conversation.
