Nobody Was Chopped at the Holiday Party

This year, AIP Marketing Alliance’s employees decided to celebrate the holidays with a friendly “Iron Chef” type competition, which built a lot of teamwork and delicious meals to share amongst the crew.

Held at Mirepoix Cooking School in Royal Oak, the group was split into two teams – blue and white – with the same menu and the secret ingredient of basil. The menu included: Tomato Basil Soup, Ricotta Gnocchi with Sautéed Cherry Tomatoes, Asparagus and Basil; Chicken Caprese; Garlic Basil Parmesan Rolls; and Vanilla Basil Poached Pears.

Each team was judged on taste, presentation and creativity. The judges also encouraged both teams to put their “spin” on each item which involved some twists on the entrees and desserts. The white team ended up butterflying their Chicken Caprese vs. standard presentation, while the blue team created a whipped cream with mascarpone cheese which impressed the judges.

After all the votes were in, the blue team ended up taking home the gold medals with a slim one-point victory over the white team. After the competition, employees also enjoyed our Secret Santa holiday tradition by exchanging gifts and trying to guess each person’s Secret Santa.

“This year, we wanted to try something different and the Duel at Mirepoix seemed like a great fit for our employees,” said Adrian Donev, Vice President of Operations. “Everyone pitched in for both teams and we really enjoyed the results – except maybe the white team.”
